I graduated in 1994 from the University of West London with an Honours degree in Humanities. I later studied Anatomy & Physiology at Yeovil College in 2002. I am a person of integrity, and I am bound by the strict codes of ethics of two professional bodies.
I have been regularly practising the traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho form of Reiki since my first attunement training in August 1998. I was lucky enough to be among some of the first in the UK to be trained by Hjalmar Jonssen, one of the founding members of the Reiki Alliance, who set up the UK's first Reiki centre. At the time I learned to treat members of the public at a weekly drop-in centre which was a great opportunity to gain experience.
I have used this form of healing for many years and had
many very positive results with regard to pain relief,
healing and relaxation. When I give a treatment, I often receive insights and impressions, sometimes visual interpretations of what my hands have found. This is common among Reiki practitioners, and increases with experience. However, it is important to note, a Reiki Practitioner does not diagnose.
Although we talk about 'energy', when I give a treatment, I often experience it as the transmission of light. Different colours of light have different frequencies, and different applications depending on what the body needs at a given time. The Reiki practitioner can only direct this light, or energy, with intention - strictly speaking, we do not control the result.
From the moment of my first attunement, it felt very natural to me that we should be able to do this. I have always been interested in health and healing, and I have been influenced by the research of Barbara Brennan and Meir Schneider. I continue to read and learn.
